ErdoIan’s ankaya decision

ErdoIan’s ankaya decisionThe Justice and Development Party (AK Party) has not “thrown a curveball” [as Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoIan previously suggested]. It just announced a “secret” that was already known to everyone.

Prime Minister ErdoIan has become the ruling party’s presidential candidate. The preparations [for the announcement ceremony] began one week before the event.

Everything was arranged by ErdoIan. Instead of at Parliament, the event took place at the Ankara Chamber of Commerce’s (ATO)ongresium hall.

Former Presidents Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Suleyman Demirel and Turgut zal and current President Abdullah Gul all announced their candidacy under Parliament’s roof. This was a kind of breach of the tradition.

ErdoIan is a leader who loves holding impressive rallies with massive crowds in attendance. Given the story of his 12-year rule as prime minister, running for president can be considered the inevitable conclusion of his political career I would like to say that ErdoIan deserves to be president, but I must object to his recent rhetoric.

The presidency cannot be used to create conflicts, unlike the prime ministry. A president must end conflicts between the state bodies and society.
