Eight runners, including one Chinese, complete Ultra-Marathon

ATINA (CIHAN)- Eight runners, including one Chinese for the first time, completed on Sunday a 255 kilometers nonstop Ultra- Marathon to the birthplace of the Olympic Games in western Greece.
The winner of the 3rd Dolichos Race which started from the archaeological site of Delphi on Friday afternoon was Spain’s Eusebio Bochons.
He crossed the finish line of one of the most difficult long distance races internationally, in front of the ancient Stadium of Olympia in 38 hours, 37 minutes and 2 seconds.
Haka Sakari from Finland was second with 38:47:55, and Chinese Chen Penbin ranked third clocking 41:12:6.
Five Greek athletes joined the few runners who have managed to complete the 48 hour time limit route through uphill asphalt roads and dirt trails in the three years of the event. Ten athletes had completed the race in the 2012 and 2013 editions.
In the 2014 Dolichos edition about two hours after Chen, Yannis Skourtaniotis and Yorgos Zahariadis crossed the finish line together in an exemplary show of solidarity among athletes.
Yorgos Tassios followed in the sixth position, Thanassis Krigas came seventh and the last runner was Nikolaos Simos clocking 45:40:20.
A total of 26 athletes from eight countries (Greece, Spain, China, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, Israel and Poland) had lined up on Friday at the starting point in a revival of the feat achieved by ancient Greeks several centuries ago, when they would run the same distance to take part in the ancient Olympic Games.
