Clash erupts in eastern Turkey during Nowruz celebrations

A clash broke out between security forces and a group of people during Nowruz celebrations in the southeastern province of Batman on Thursday.

The clash erupted during the celebrations held by pro- Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) and Peace and Democracy Party (BDP). Police tried to disperse protesting crowd with tear gas and water cannon. Some of the protesters whose faces were covered with masks set a police vehicle on fire.

Batman Mayor spoke with some officials from the HDP and police to stop cashes.

The clash between the police and protesters is still going on. Reportedly, two children were injured in the incident.
