Bogazici festival embraces feature-length films in third year

The Nov. 20-27 event will give $50,000 to the winner of best picture and $5,000 in prize money for the best director in its inaugural feature film competition, the Bosporus Cinema Association (UBSD) said in a press release on Monday.

In its two previous editions, the festival only had national and international competitive sections for short fiction films and documentary shorts.

The third edition will also see the Turkish premieres of 11 films, including Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s 2015 romantic drama “Journey to the Shore,” and female director Ines Tanovic’s drama “Our Everyday Life,” which is Bosnia’s entry for the foreign language Oscar race in the 88th Academy Awards, the festival committee said on Monday.

The 2015 festival’s short film competitions meanwhile received a total of 2,621 submissions from 111 countries, the association said.
