Bodrum Ballet Festival wraps up sold-out 13th edition

The Bodrum International Ballet Festival wrapped up its 13th edition on Saturday with a sold-out performance by the Spanish dance company Los Vivancos, its organizers said Sunday.
All of the performances in this yearand’s program were sell-out events, the State Opera and Ballet Directorate General said in a press release. The Ankara-based institutionand’s summer season also includes the Istanbul Opera Festival and the Antalya Aspendos Opera and Ballet Festival, in addition to Bodrum.
The Bodrum Ballet Festival presents its performances in the historic Bodrum Castle, a 15th-century castle built by the Knights of St. John overlooking the Bodrum marina. This yearand’s festival, which took place from July 18 through Aug. 1, hosted Russiaand’s Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet and Los Vivancos as guest companies. Other performers on the bill, which featured five productions in total, included the Ankara, Istanbul, izmir, Mersin and Antalya State Opera and Ballet companies.
The Antalya and izmir ballet companies opened the festival with a triple bill combining three early 20th-century pieces: and”The Firebirdand” and and”The Rite of Springand” by Igor Stravinsky and Maurice Raveland’s and”Bolero.and” The Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet performed its ballet rendition of Bizetand’s and”Carmenand” two nights in a row, on July 24 and 25, while the seven Vivanco brothers staged and”Best of Los Vivancosand” as the closing piece on July 31 and Aug. 1.
