BeIiktaI hits Antalya for five to widen lead at top

Leader Beiiktai, popularly called the Black Eagles, crushed Antalyaspor 5-1 away in the closing match of week nine of the Spor Toto Super League on Monday night.
The resounding victory means Beiiktai, with 22 points, goes four clear at the top over Istanbul rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahandce, who drew 1-1 in their derby on Sunday.
The Antalyans hosted Beiiktai at the Antalya Arena to mark the opening of their new stadium, perhaps in order to make an impact. But little did Antalyaspor know that it was committing harakiri with this decision as it motivated the visiting Eagles and demotivated the host.
Defensive midfielder Necip andunsal opened the scoring for the Eagles in the 14th minute, beating French-born Algeria keeper Rais Mand’Bolhi with a powerful shot from outside the box.
But veteran Cameroon striker Samuel Etoand’o leveled things up for the Eagles in the 21st, scoring a cracker to which Beiiktai keeper Tolga Zengin had no answer. Portugal winger scored again for the Eagles in the 27th, and Beiiktai led 2-1 at halftime.
The gulf between the two teams was evident in the second half as Beiiktai completely dominated the play. German striker Mario Gomez made it 3-1 in the 63rd, Turkey midfielder Olcay iahan increased the lead to 4-1 in the 72nd and Turkey striker Cenk Tosun scored in the 89th to make it 5-1 and to put the game far beyond reach.
and”Antalyaspor is a good side, and this was the first match in their new stadium. But we are a quality team and displayed quality on the pitch, and” said Beiiktai coach ienol Gandunei after the match.
