Banvit beats Edirne by 43 points in TBL

Banvit maintained its single-defeat lead after trashing struggling Olin Edirne 101-58 at home in their men’s Beko Turkish Basketball League clash on Sunday, with three weeks left until the end of the regular season.

“If we were able to win this game by a good margin, it’s because we respected our opponent,” Banvit coach Dimitris Itoudis said after the match. He also thanked Banvit’s fans for cheering for their team. “I can’t thank them enough,” he added.

Second-placed Fenerbahce Ulker routed Trabzonspor Medical Park 84-62 in Istanbul on Saturday while third-placed Anadolu Efes beat Tofas 84-78 on the road on Sunday.

Other results: Aliaga Petkim 50, Besiktas Integral Forex 91; Torku Konya Selcuk Univ. 98, Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler 75; Turk Telekom 79, Mersin BSB 74; and Royal Halı Gaziantep Basketbol 95, Pınar Karsıyaka 92. The Galatasaray-Usak Sportif match was postponed because of the Istanbul club’s Euroleague game.
