Bank VTB (Azerbaijan): “Supposition on removal of Russian banks from SWIFT system is low”

Baku: Bank VTB (Azerbaijan) commented on supposition regarding removal of Russian banks from SWIFT system.

Bank told APA-Economics that according to experts of Bank VTB (Azerbaijan), Supposition on removal of Russian banks from SWIFT system is low. Bank’s experts are based on statement of the global operator.

“SWIFT officially stated that it does not intend to remove Russian banks from its services. Recommendations of European Parliament on removal of Russian banks from the system violates SWIFT’s rights and damages its reputation”, bank said.

Chairman of bank’s Management Board Yuri Yakovlev says that even if Russian banks are removed from the system, bank can use its alternative resources: “If the bank is removed from the System, it will fulfil its payments through Atabank”.

Bank also said that over $6 trillions-payments are fulfilled SWIFT per day: “Russia ranks at 2nd for payments in SWIFT. It’s indicated that the system does not intend to remove Russian banks”
