Baku State University marks its 95th anniversary

Baku: Baku State University (BSU) is hosting an event dedicated to the 95th anniversary of its establishment, APA reports.

Before the conference, BSU officials and staff visited the grave of Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor. Later, the drawing board on the establishment of the university was unveiled and the opening of the exhibition on the 95th anniversary of the university was held.

Education Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, President of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Akif Alizade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairperson of the State Students Admission Commission Maleyka Abbaszade, Vice-Speakers of the Parliament Bahar Muradova, Ziyafet Asgarov, MPs and foreign ambassadors to Azerbaijan are attending the anniversary event.

The university choir sang international student anthem “Gaudeamus”, student Alihuseyn Guluzade sang “Azerbaijan” song of Muslim Magomayev, short graphic film on the establishment of the university was displayed in the opening ceremony

Rector of the Baku State University, academician Abel Maharramov delivered a lecture on “95-year honorable path”. The rector said Azerbaijan’s flagship university with a rich history is now a well-known educational institution, noting that the university had always been a center of progressive thought and national idea in Azerbaijan and hundreds of Azerbaijan’s outstanding scientist, scholar and diplomats studied here.
