Azerbaijan’s investment opportunities highlighted in Washington

Azerbaijan’s business environment and investment opportunities were discussed in the United States.

Non-profit organization “Diplomacy Matters Institute”, with the support of U.S. Delegation of Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) have held an event on the business environment and investment opportunities of Azerbaijan on December 9, AzerTag news agency reported.

Officials from the U.S. departments of State and Commerce, representatives of the Washington diplomatic corps, academic community and local companies attended the event.

Elin Suleymanov, Azerbaijani Ambassador to the U.S. spoke off economic successes, large-scale projects, favorable business and investment climate in Azerbaijan.

Suleymanov said diversification of the economy, as well development of non-oil sector is one of the main priorities in Azerbaijan, noting that $150 billion was invested in the country’s economy in the last decade; strategic currency reserves exceeded $ 50 billion, more than 1 million new jobs were created, a tremendous effort on the development of entrepreneurship was made.

He went on to say that Azerbaijan was included in the list of space states, became the initiator and participant in regional projects in the field of ICT.

Suleymanov also stressed the main role of Azerbaijan in increasing opportunities of Europe’s energy security and the region’s transit potential.

Following the event, promotional materials developed by AZPROMO on Azerbaijan’s economy were distributed, the products manufactured in the country and exported to the U.S. market has been demonstrated.

Since Azerbaijan’s emergence as an independent nation in 1991, the U.S.-Azerbaijan relationship has evolved into a strategic partnership based on mutual interests and common values.

At present, Azerbaijan-U.S. relations are developing rapidly.
