Azerbaijani President issues order on acceleration of work in North-South corridor

Baku: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has issued an order on acceleration of work in Azerbaijan part of North-South International Transport Corridor, APA reports.

Jointly with the Ministry of Economy and Industry and Azerbaijan Railways OJSC, the Foreign Ministry is to agree framework agreement between Azerbaijan and Iran on coordination of Azerbaijani railways on the North-South corridor with Iran’s railways, as well as contracts between Azerbaijan and Iran on construction and funding of railway bridge over Astara river, on Azerbaijan-Iran border and submit to the president.

Azerbaijan Railways OJSC is to project and implement the construction work of railway line from Astara (Azerbaijan) railway station to Azerbaijan-Iran border, as well as Railway Bridge over Astara River, on the Azerbaijan-Iran border.

State Customs Committee and State Border Service is to create customs and border infrastructure in connection with railway bridge.

The Cabinet of Ministers is to take necessary measures for purchase of lands for state needs provided in the 2nd and 3rd parts of the order.

The Finance Ministry is to provide necessary funding.
