Azerbaijani national security minister meets with Nikolai Patrushev

Baku: Azerbaijani Minister of National Security Colonel General Eldar Mahmudov received Tuesday a delegation led by Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev.

Public Relations Department of the Ministry of National Security told APA that Eldar Mahmudov spoke about the current operational conditions and the factors affecting them as well as actions carried out against various manifestations of transnational organized crimes, especially terrorism, which is of the most threatening crimes for the international community.

Eldar Mahmudov stressed the necessity of further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation on security issues, giving detailed information to the guest about the regional threats posed by the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh and consequences of the fact that the problem still remains unsettled.

Nikolai Patrushev in turn emphasized the existence of centuries-old historical, cultural, friendly and partnership ties between Russia and Azerbaijan, noting the dynamic development of cooperation between the two countries’ relevant structures, including special service agencies in order to ensure the interests of both nations and regional and global security.

Moreover, the sides exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
