Azerbaijani Muslims mark end of Ramadan, perform holiday prayer

Baku: Azerbaijani Muslims have gathered in mosques to perform the holiday prayer in connection with the end of Ramadan.

Deputy Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Board (CMB) Haji Salman Musayev led the prayer in Ajdarbey mosque at 8:00 am, and Chairman of the CMB Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh led the prayer in Tezepir mosque at 9:00 am, APA reports.

In his statement to journalists after the prayer, Allahshukur Pashazadeh congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the holiday.

He wished the people of Azerbaijan peace and prosperity, noting that he is continuously praying for the return of lands of Karabakh.

The holiday was celebrated in Azerbaijan yesterday and today.

The month of Ramadan, which started on June 29, is now about to come to an end.

Depending upon the sighting of the Shawwal moon (hilal), the holiday of Ramadan coincides with July 28 or 29 in the Gregorian Calendar. The Azerbaijani government declared both dates as holidays.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Board have already congratulated the people of Azerbaijan.
