Spain’s Queen Sofia has been presented with keepsakes as she familiarized with Azerbaijan’s stand in the annual ‘Kermés 2014’ charity bazaar, organized by the International Association of Diplomats in Madrid.

Queen Sofia opened the bazaar, where representatives of dozens of diplomatic missions in Madrid gather each year to present samples of their cultural identities through crafts, gastronomy and folklore and then donate the proceeds to charity.

Touring the bazaar, Queen Sofia stopped by Azerbaijan`s booth and wanted to buy several Azerbaijani souvenirs, but the country’s delegates refused to take money and gave them to her as a keepsake.

The Queen was so much impressed at the Azerbaijani booth that she took several items to view although under a protocol the Queen never touches souvenirs exhibited at the fair.

The Diplomatic Charity Bazaar ‘Kermés 2014’, an event organized yearly by the International Association of Diplomats in Spain (AIDE), opened in Madrid on April 26. Representations of more than 50 countries participated in this colorful party this year. Its benefits will go to the Bobath Foundation and the Partnership Alternative in Motion.
