Azerbaijani Health Ministry releases information of those injured at offshore field fire

Baku: Azerbaijan’s Health Ministry received 31 requests from the citizens injured in the powerful blaze that broke out on a platform at the offshore field Gunashli on Friday, the ministry said in a statement to APA.

According to the statement, 22 people who were in good condition were released home after receiving outpatient care provided they should undergo repeated treatment.

Those 22 people have begun their treatment today. One of them, diagnosed with nausea, has been recommended to stay in hospital. There is no threat to his life. Necessary care is being provided to eight of them who have received various bodily injuries. They are in stable condition as well and have been relocated to chambers. One of them who has received burn injuries of varying severity has been admitted to Republican Burn Center No.1 and his condition is stable,” said the statement.

The ministry also noted that the injured are under constant control of the Health Ministry. At the same time, the ministry has created a team of psychologists to provide psychological aid to the families of the oil workers who have been injured or gone missing in the accident.

“The psychologists have been to the Central Hospital of Oil Workers today and provided necessary care to them. All necessary steps are being taken for the injured to recover soon,” said the ministry.

It is noted that Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev has visited the Central Hospital of Oil Workers to meet with the citizens injured in the fire that broke out on a platform at the offshore field Gunashli on Friday.
