Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: Armenia has turned Gevorgyan’s family into a baseless tool for propaganda beyond moral, ethical, legal and humane values – “It can obviously be seen that Yegishe Gevorgyan and his family members were forced to make public statements under the threats, inhuman, physical and psychological tortures of Armenia intelligence agencies”

Baku: Armenia has turned Gevorgyan’s family, handed over to their country, into a baseless tool for propaganda beyond moral, ethical, legal and humane values.

Acting spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Hikmet Hajiyev stated this while commenting on the statements Gevorgyan’s family made in Armenia, APA reports.

H. Hajiyev said Gevorgyan’s family crossed to the territory of Azerbaijan four years ago, hoping to get rid of the tyranny, cruelty and extreme poverty in Armenia. They sought to go to a third country.

“Due to the criminal history of the family’s head Yegishe Gevorgyan, they were not accepted by the third countries to which they had appealed. During their stay in Azerbaijan, the Gevorgyan’s were provided with a comfortable flat, food and necessary conditions. ICRC representatives regularly visited them, each time expressing their satisfaction with their detention conditions and appreciating Azerbaijan’s humane attitude. Medical examinations carried out in Armenia also proved that the family was healthy,” the spokesman said.

H. Hajiyev said it is obvious that Yegishe Gevorgyan and his family members were forced to make public statements under the threats, inhuman, physical and psychological torture of Armenia intelligence agencies after being handed over to their country.

“The worst thing is that Armenia doesn’t refrain from using the children of this family for its vile propaganda. Armenian citizens handed over to Armenia have previously undergone such tortures and been detained in prison of the Armenian intelligence agencies for a long time. Unfortunately, Yegishe Gevorgyan’s family also faced such a tragedy in Armenia.

The international community, human rights activists should not remain indifferent to such inhuman acts of Armenia, fate of more than 4,000 Azerbaijanis gone missing as a result of the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, so-called trial of our compatriots Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev and torture they are undergoing,” he noted.
