Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister: “Europe, the United States and Russia have faced a very difficult situation in connection with Ukraine”

Baku: “The United States and Russia have the most powerful nuclear weapons. International situation depends on risky steps of the U.S. and Russia,” Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said, APA reports.

Azimov noted that Ukraine crisis tests US-Russia relations: “Both sides are trying to find a way out of the situation by diplomatic means. But along with a document adopted at the Geneva meeting, the U.S. continues imposing sanctions against Russia.”

Touching upon the impact of frosty relations between Russia and the U.S. on the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azimov said that these two states are the major players, even in the case of worsening relations at some stage in the international arena: “The U.S. and Russia faced such a difficult situation in the past, I hope they will find a way to solve it. Europe, the United States and Russia have faced a very difficult situation in connection with Ukraine. I want this issue to be abused in the process within the OSCE Minsk Group, because this process should be based on international legal norms and principles.”
