Azerbaijan, Vietnam enjoy tight economic relations

Azerbaijan and Vietnam considered simplification of trade procedures as Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Aydin Aliyev has met Deputy Minister of Finance of Vietnam Do Hoang Anh Tuan.

Aliyev highlighted political and economic relations between the two countries after Azerbaijan`s independence.

He said the official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Vietnam contributed to the development of prospects for cooperation.

Aliyev also stressed the importance of establishing bilateral cooperation in the field of customs, and expressed confidence that the visit would serve to expand the bilateral ties.

Do Hoang Anh Tuan hailed the development of political and economic ties between the two countries, saying there was big potential for boosting these bonds.

He also said they were interested in learning experience of Azerbaijan in the field of customs, as well as fighting against smuggling.

“Vietnam can learn a lot from Azerbaijan, including the principle of “single window”,” he said.

The customs authorities of the two countries play a big role in the development of economic relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam.

Also, the Azerbaijani-Vietnamese business forum will be held on May 14.

According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Vietnam amounted to 79.76 million dollars at the end of 2014, which is almost four times less than in 2013. Thus, in 2014 the export of Azerbaijani goods to Vietnam fell by 75.37 million.
