Azerbaijan says need to work with European Parliament

Baku: There is a need to work with the European Parliament, because it is a body of the European Union, said Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev.

According to him, the Azerbaijani parliament decided not to take part in the Euronest anymore. “However, we cannot say that all in the European Parliament voted for the anti-Azerbaijan resolution. All members of the largest party European People’s Party voted against the resolution. More than 300 parliamentarians of over 700 voted in favor of it,” he added.

It is wrong to say that the European Parliament is entirely against Azerbaijan, the deputy FM said. “We have an interparliamentary cooperation group, which hasn’t held a meeting for a while. We have suspended cooperation mechanisms after the resolution. However, it is our work. We can only put forward recommendations”, he stressed.
