Azerbaijan removes ‘Physical training’ subject from higher education programs

Baku: Education Ministry: We see no relation between the physical training and high education within a limited time

Today, high education system plays a significant role in work with students, especially in training, organization of their leisure time and raising students as citizens.

Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov made remarks at the opening of the educational building of the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction overhauled under the instructions of the Education Ministry.

He said that today the work with students has become more difficult compared to previous years.

“The competition among students has increased. However time is limited. I think we may review a lot of experience in this regard. The areas of interests should be developed at universities”, he said.

The minister added that “Physical training” subject was removed from higher education programs.

“We don’t think that it is unimportant for the higher education. It is so important that we are ready to provide new facilities for its development in the higher education. However, we see no relation between the physical training and specialties like lawyer, architect or financier of the high education within a limited time. We see that some students are interested in wrestling and football, while others prefer to spend times in reading rooms,” he noted.

Jabbarov said mission can not be completed with the preparation of a professional, adding that the ministry is ready to receive and support proposals for supporting the activity in this regard.

“I believe that we can work more efficiently and effectively with the students within the higher education system,” the minister completed.
