Azerbaijan needs to raise cooperation with NATO to higher level – defense ministry official

Baku: “Currently, 10 Azerbaijani officers are serving at NATO headquarters. This is the highest figure. Other countries have 5-6 officers at NATO headquarters,” Head of the International Military Cooperation Department under Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry, Major General Huseyn Mahmudov said at the event on NATO-Azerbaijan relations, APA reports.

Mahmudov praised the cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO, noting that our country wants to benefit from more exclusive opportunities.

“We need to raise the cooperation to a higher level. Currently, the Azerbaijani Army is being conformed to NATO standards. Our main goal is to build an effective defense system. Azerbaijan’s compliance with NATO standards is one of our biggest successes. Participating in NATO events raises our level of preparedness. We contribute to peacekeeping missions and international security. We are developing national standards through NATO standards,” the defense ministry official underlined.
