Azerbaijan, Greece mull cooperation in various areas

Azerbaijan and Greece discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of youth and sports during the official visit of Azerbaijan’s Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Intigam Babayev to Greece.

Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Ministry said Babayev together with the country’s Ambassador to Greece Rakhman Mustafayev met Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO Marianna Vardinoyannis, who is the founder of the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation”.

Noting friendly relations between Azerbaijani and Greek peoples, Vardinoyannis stressed that in the future the relations will be further strengthened.

She noted that the charitable activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation led by First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva is widely known not only in Azerbaijan, but also outside of the country.

Vardinoyannis said she had repeatedly been to Azerbaijan and was fascinated by this country, its people and traditions. She also appreciated the work of the Azerbaijani embassy in Greece.

Intigam Babayev, in turn, talked about the projects implemented in the development of relations between the youth of the two countries, noting similarities between the two peoples, such as friendliness, hospitality, rich culture and history.

The Deputy Minister also met with Greek Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General for International Economic Relations Panagiotis Mihalos.

The meeting discussed expansion of cooperation between the youth of the two countries, the implementation of various projects for the exchange and development of normative documents in the field of youth and sports. Babayev also informed participants of the meeting on youth policy, which is being implemented in Azerbaijan.

Referring to his numerous visit to Azerbaijan, Mihalos said he was impressed significantly by the rapid development of the country.
