Azerbaijan faces provocations amid international events

Every time Azerbaijan prepares to hold any kind of international events, certain forces abroad unite with local foes and stage provocations against the country, said Azerbaijani MP Tahir Rzayev.

Rzayev was commenting on a number of international organizations campaigns to discredit Azerbaijan on the eve of the First European Games.

He said there are those in Azerbaijan, who feel proud for the country hosting the First European Games.

The MP said these processes are controlled from a single center and they are directed towards certain goals.

“But all these attempts will be unsuccessful,” Rzayev said.

He also expressed his regret over the fact that among the citizens of the country, there are those who support the campaign to discredit Azerbaijan.

“Unfortunately, some people who are among us, do not feel proud from the fact that the first European Games will be held in Azerbaijan. They do not understand that these Games are an historic opportunity for the country. During the games, the world’s attention will be on Azerbaijan. Tens of thousands of people, with tourists, journalists, business people, will arrive in the country,” Rzayev said.

He added that during their stay in the country, the people will get acquainted with the Azerbaijan’s culture and economy.

Rzayev further said amid the upcoming games, Azerbaijan has carried out significant work to improve infrastructure, tourism services. He also said the sports facilities built for the Games, will serve the country after the games as well.
