Azerbaijan detains Syrian, Iraqi citizens for illegal hunting

Baku: Two foreign nationals have been detained for illegal hunting as a result of the raid carried out by the employees of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources in Mahmudchala Hunting Estate, the ministry told APA.

During the investigation, four pigeons, four quails, two doves, four traps, one hunting net and a basket for retaining birds were seized from Syrian citizen Al Hamdo Muhammad and Iraqi citizen Khalil Ibrahim Eesee Al-Javari.

In accordance with the law, an act and a protocol were prepared and illegal hunting instruments were seized.

The offenders were each fined AZN 2,000 (totally AZN 4,000) under the code of administrative offences for violating the law on wildlife.

Raids are underway in order to prevent the cases of illegal hunting in the country.
