Azerbaijan, Argentine discuss cooperation prospects

The Azerbaijan-Argentina Joint Working Group on trade and economic cooperation held its first meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 25.

A delegation led by Working Group Co-chair, Deputy Minister of Economy Sahil Babayev representing Azerbaijan attended the meeting and held talks with the Co-chair of the Working Group, Secretary of State for International Economic Relations of Argentina, Carlos Bianco.

The two sides discussed current state and prospects of economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

During the event, they discussed possible joint projects on agriculture, food processing, high technology, energy and pharmaceutical sectors.

Expressing the importance of strengthening regulatory and legal framework for the development of economic relations, the sides also called for continued efforts in this direction.

Babayev hailed the development strategy of Azerbaijan, strategic energy and infrastructural projects carried out at the initiative of two countries.

Bianco, in turn, expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support as the only country in the South Caucasus region to adopt the UN General Assembly’s resolution on “The sovereign debt on the establishment of a multilateral legal framework” which has been held in force since September.

A report on the results of the first meeting of the group was released at the end of meeting.

The sides also agreed to hold their next meeting in Azerbaijan.

As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation held a range of meetings in Argentina, had comprehensive discussions on expansion of economic relations between the two countries, as well as industrial cooperation and implementation of joint projects and prospects of boosting relations.
