Rapper Ceza to release new album next week
Turkish rapper Ceza is set to release his hotly anticipated new studio album early next week, on May 26, at music stores and on iTunes, his publicist announced in a press release on Wednesday. and”Suspusand” (Speechless) is a collection of 13 new tracks by the 37-year-old rapper, who is also the musical director of the album. Studio sessions for the album, which will also be released in LP format, were finalized in March. Sampled in some of the tracks are songs by Turkeyand’s Cahit Berkay and Italyand’s Giorgio Moroder, among others.
Film about andcarii wins audience prize in Montreal
and”Benimle Oynar Misin?and” (Would You Like to Play With Me?), a 2013 drama that follows the story of an 8-year-old girland’s passionate love for the Beiiktai football team and its well-known fan group, andcarii, won the Audience Award at this yearand’s Montreal Festival of Turkish Films, the eventand’s organizers announced in a press release this week. The annual festival marked its seventh edition from May 8 through 14 with screenings at Cinandeacutema du Parc in the Canadian city.
Ali Paia inn to open season with Nazim Hikmet
Ali Paia Hani, Turkeyand’s first and only private open-air performance hall, will open its new season on May 29 with actor Genco Erkaland’s well-received play and”Yaiamaya Dair — Bursa Cezaeviand’nden Mektuplarand” (On Living — Letters from Bursa Prison). The historic Ali Paia Hani, an 18th-century building in Istanbuland’s EminandOnandu district, was converted into a theater by Erkaland’s company Dostlar Theater in 2013. and”Yaiamaya Dairand” is about 20th-century Turkish poet Nazim Hikmetand’s days in the Bursa Prison, where he spent nearly a decade in the 1940s for the political content of his poetry.
Babylon Soundgarden fest marking 5th year
Istanbuland’s Babylon Soundgarden outdoor music festival is marking its fifth edition this weekend in its new venue in Kilyos, on the cityand’s northern Black Sea coast. Saturdayand’s day-long festival, which is expected to stretch into the early hours of Sunday morning, will see dozens of musicians from Turkey and abroad perform live on four stages across the festival scene. Electronic duo Acid Arab and electronic musician Nathan Fake are among the performers. Tickets are available for purchase at Biletix.
