Armenian armed forces continue shelling the Azerbaijani villages located near the contact line of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops.

The Armenian armed forces once again fired at the Alibayli village of Tovuz region. The village residents told local media that the Armenian armed forces fired at the village on July 14.

The intense firing lasted about 15 minutes. Although no dead and injured were reported in the shooting, the houses heavily damaged.

The ceasefire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line was broken 19 times in numerous positions last night, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said on July 15.

The armed forces of Armenia, located at the nameless heights in Armenia’s Ijevan and Noyemberyan regions, fired at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located at the nameless heights in Gazakh region.

Also, the Azerbaijani positions took fire from the positions located at the nameless heights in Goranboy region and near the villages of Gorgan, Ashagi Veyselli, Ashagi Abdurrahmanli of Fizuli region, Merzili of Aghdam and Mehdili of Jabrayil region.

The opposing side was silenced with return fire.

The ceasefire violations on the contact line of Armenian and Azerbaijani troops have recently intensified. The Armenian armed forces didn’t hesitate to fire at the civilians, who live in the villages located near the frontline.

Five civilians were wounded as a result of Armenian armed forces’ shelling of the houses and fields in the border villages in late June.

Also, Armenian armed forces recently wounded an Azerbaijani serviceman.

Armenia captured Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding districts from Azerbaijan in a war that followed the Soviet breakup in 1991. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and nearly 1 million were displaced as a result of the war.

Large-scale hostilities ended with a Russia-brokered ceasefire in 1994, but Armenia has continued the occupation in defiance of four UN Security Council resolutions calling for immediate and unconditional withdrawal of its forces.

Peace talks mediated by Russia, France, and the U.S. have produced no results so far.
