Araz Azimov: “Today one of the greatest tragedies in the world is Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”

Baku: “Today one of the greatest tragedies in the world is Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which can have a negative impact on the situation in the South Caucasus”, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Araz Azimov in his speech at the Second Global Shared Societies Forum organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, the Club of Madrid, with support of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Diaspora and with joint cooperation of World Academy of Art and Sciences, UN, Library of Alexandria, and other organizations, APA reports.

The diplomat has questioned whether the world community is ready for the resolution of this issue, let alone Armenia? “The world community should take a relevant decision on the current situation, and eventually prevent the aggressor”.

A.Azimov mentioned that the OSCE Minsk Group engaged in the resolution of the conflict is an international institution, Europe and the West are main players here. “Three members are authorized for the resolution of the conflict. However, it has little influence. I’m not saying that the Minsk Group is the main reason for the failure, but all Co-Chair countries should be active in this issue. For instance, Turkey and Germany can contribute to the resolution of the conflict. But unfortunately, time passes and there is no result.”
