Acrobatic plane crashes down in Taiwan, pilot killed

TAIPEI: A trainer aircraft AT-3 belonging to Taiwan Air Forces Academy collided with another AT-3 and nosedived to the ground on Tuesday during routine training flights. Reportedly the pilot of the plane was killed.

Two of three planes collided with each other in Kaoshing province of Taiwan during training flights. Getting serious damage in the accident, the aircraft under the control of pilot, Lt. Col. Chung Bei-yuan crashed down. But another AT-3 which was involved in accident managed to make a safe landing.

The planes were trainers used by the Air Force’s Thunder Tigers Acrobatic Team and were on a routine training session when the collision occurred.

The cause of the collision remains unknown and is being investigated, according to the military.
