Accident involving oil tanker leads to panic in western Turkey

SAKARYA: A tanker loaded with fuel additive crashed with two semi-trailer trucks in the western province of Sakarya which led to a chemical leakage from the tanker.

The incident took place on TEM highway. Hamit Kilic, driver of tanker collided with two semi-trailer trucks due to a breakdown in the vehicle. After the incident, people noticed leakage from the tanker. Fire brigade was dispatched to the scene and people who were involved in the accident were taken to the hospital after they underwent a chemical substance control by the Prime Ministry’s Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD) and the National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE). Fire fighters continuously fired foam to prevent fire in the vehicle.
