A giraffe dies in South Africa after ‘hitting an oncoming bridge’

JOHANNESBURG (CIHAN)- Eyewitnesses have mentioned that one of the two Giraffe’s on the truck, died after smashing its head into a low bridge while it was being transported along a busy highway in South Africa on the route way to Pretoria (Johannesburg’s Capital City)
The vehicle broke down and awaited for several hours to be repaired.

The giraffe’s were than taken to the vet and from the two the one had died on arrival, as reported from the ‘National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal’ (NSPCA)

A 31 year old man, Thinus Botha pulled over the side of the road to take a picture of the giraffe’s just before the incident took place, he mentioned that he heard a loud bang and saw blood coming from the nose of the critically injured giraffe, “local media report” reported. He was unconcerned of comments by the giraffe’s owner, as also quoted in South African newspaper and local media report.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals in South Africa said it was investigating and criminal charges were possible.
