5 injured as blast hits forces’ vehicle in SW Pakistan

Baku: At least five people including a security man were injured in a blast near a vehicle of paramilitary troops in Pakistan’s southwest Chaman district on Tuesday, local officials said.

Muhammad Ashraf, a senior police officer, said that the paramilitary Frontier Corps’ vehicle was targeted by the explosion in Kandahari Bazaar area of Chaman, Balochistan province.

The bomb fitted to a motorbike was triggered off by a remote controlled device as soon as the vehicle passed it, he said.

The bomb disposal squad said that an estimated two kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.

The injured people including four passers-by were shifted to a civil hospital.

Police and security forces reached the scene and cordoned off the area for investigations.

No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion yet.

This is the second blast that targeted the country’s security forces in a single day. Earlier in the morning, four people were killed and 34 others injured when a bomb went off near a police vehicle in northwest Charsadda district.
