47 more immigrants detained after migrant boat sinks off Turkish coast

MUGLA: Security forces found another group of illegal immigrants who were trying to reach Greece after a boat carrying 16 illegal immigrants sank off the Aegean coast of Bodrum on Tuesday, leaving five dead.

In the morning, eight immigrants were saved by the security forces while five were found dead. Injured were taken to the nearby hospitals for treatment. Coast guards units launched a search to find three immigrants who went missing in the incident. During the search, officers noticed another boat which was about to sink.

Coast Guard Command reported that 47 Syrian people, who attempted to reach Greece from Turkey, were in the boat. Security forces prevented another accident on the same day at the last minute. The immigrants were first taken to the Coast Guard Command and will later referred to the gendarmerie.

Meanwhile, three missing immigrants are still being searched by the officers.
