3 workers trapped during dam construction in northwest Turkey

Three workers were trapped on Friday after a collapse at the construction site of an irrigation dam in the northwestern province of Edirne.
According to the Dogan news agency, six workers were trapped at the construction site of the Hamzadere irrigation dam close to the town of Yapildak in the ipsala district when a large pile of soil slid toward workers who were preparing concrete panels around 11:00 a.m.
One managed to survive through his own efforts and two others were rescued by fellow laborers. They were taken to Keian State Hospital for treatment.
Efforts to save the other three are ongoing, after several medical and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. It has been reported that one team may be in contact with two of the workers trapped beneath the soil.
