3 killed, 1 injured after car crashes into truck in Istanbul

ISTANBUL: Three people were killed while one more was severely injured on Saturday, when a car they were driving crashed into the back of a parked truck in Istanbul’s Sile district, a popular seaside destination on the Black Sea coast.

The luxury car, which was driven by Ogulcan Satilmis and was reportedly traveling at high speed at the time, was totaled due to the crash, causing the four people inside to be trapped. An ambulance and fire trucks were dispatched to the scene after locals reported the incident. Satilmis, Berra Ozel and Berkay Orcan died on the scene, while the fourth person, Berca Bezzaz, was seriously injured.

Firemen were able to pull the bodies from inside the car after an hour of effort. The bodies were then transferred to the Umraniye State Hospital morgue. Bezzaz was treated at the same hospital. All four were reported to be university students.

The Cekmekoy-Sile highway was temporarily closed to traffic after the incident.
