232 died in traffic accidents in Azerbaijan this year

Baku: Fuad Jafarov; 232 people died in traffic accidents in Azerbaijan this year. Chief of the public relations department of the Main State Traffic Police Office Kamran Aliyev told APA that 523 traffic accidents occurred in the first three months of 2014. As a result, 232 died, 499 were injured.

Compared to the previous year, the number of road accidents decreased by 123, the number of deaths by 26 and the number of victims by 192. 199 road accidents took place in the capital in the first three months of 2014. Consequently, 61 died, 193 were inured.

Pedestrians were hit in 221 road accidents, in which 86 people died, 152 were injured. 14 children died, 29 were injured in the accidents in the first three months of 2014.

10 traffic accidents caused by drunken drivers were recorded during the reporting period. Consequently, 6 died, 11 were injured.
