Women participation essential in Intra-Yemeni talks – Activist

KUWAIT, May 8 (KUNA) — Yemeni women’s participation in the Intra-Yemeni peace talks in Kuwait is very essential in achieving permanent and comprehensive peace in Yemen, a peace activist stressed Sunday.
Yemeni women had had a significant role during the National Dialogue Conference (NDC), held in Sanaa between March, 2013 and January, 2014, supporting peace-talks consultations and showing their opinion on making positive changes in the country, Jamila Rajaa, NDC’s member, said in a press conference.
They could push the ongoing UN-mediated peace talks in Kuwait further through sharing their visions and ideas with the negotiators, Rajaa said, pointing out the high-risk level that her country has recently reached.
For her part, Nabila Al-Zubair, head of Saada committee at NDC, indicated that recent Yemeni women talks with representatives of the participating Yemeni delegations in the Kuwait have focused on the importance of bearing responsibilities and taking positive stands towards pending issues, including reaching a comprehensive solution to end the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
“We have met with some former colleagues and partners, and urged them to establish peace for the people and resolve all disputes resulted from misinterpretation and misunderstanding,” she said.
Al-Zubair also stressed the importance of disarming and starting a meaningful comprehensive national dialogue, expressing hope that the Kuwait-hosted talks, as well as the efforts exerted by Arab and foreign countries, contribute in resolving the Yemeni crisis. (pickup previous) rkf.ma
