KUWAIT, May 19 (KUNA) — A visit by the Kuwaiti sports popular delegation to Mexico City last week, ahead of the FIFA Congress 2016, was part of a tour that previously covered the GCC countries, to muster support to lift the suspension of the Kuwaiti sports, MP Abdullah Al-Mayouf said on Thursday.
The delegation found out that most football associations taking part in the Mexico City FIFA Congress had no idea about the reasons behind the suspension of the sport in Kuwait, Al-Mayouf, who is head of the parliamentary youth and sports committee, told a press conference at the National Assembly.
He quashed claims that the Kuwaiti sports laws contravene with the international ones and the Olympic Charter.
Even if this true, why did the FIFA Congress hold a vote on the continuation of the suspension? he wondered. They should have rather identified the points of contravention between the Kuwaiti and the international laws, and there was no need for a vote, he said.
For the Al-Mayouf, it is a reason to wonder that the FIFA has formed a committee to discuss the issue, including members who have been behind the suspension of the Kuwaiti football. (end) jy.tb.msa
