US, Russia order Iranian heavy water – Araqchi

TEHRAN, May 29 (KUNA) — Iranian chief nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said Sunday his country is in talks with Russia on the purchase of Iranian heavy water, after selling large quantities to the US.
An agreement has already been finalized on the selling of 32 tons of heavy water to the US while Russia ordered a similar quantity, Araqchi – the deputy foreign minister, told reporters on the fringes of a function at Kharazmi University.
The US will soon foot the bill of its purchases and deposit their costs to the account of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) before the delivery of the heavy water, he pointed out.
Iran has got many customers for its surplus heavy water production. It sold 32 tons and is negotiating with importers on the purchase of additional 40 tons, Araqchi went on.
Many global investors are waiting impatiently for calmer atmospheres to resume their economic activities in the Islamic republic which is doing its utmost to prepare the ground for foreign investments, he added. (end) mw.gb
