Turkish police arrest two IS suspects in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, May 6 (KUNA) — Turkish police arrested two of the so-called Islamic State (IS) members in Istanbul, who were believed to have entered the country from Syria unlawfully and were planning to carry out a terrorist attack in the city.
Turkish news agency (Anadolu) quoted security officials as saying the two suspects were coming from the Syrian village Al-Reqa and entered the country illegally.
The two suspects were being monitored prior to their capture by anti-terror security units, the security official added.
After interrogation, the two suspects were transferred to Al-Adli palace in Istanbul, and a court ruling ordered one of the suspects to remain in custody, while the other was released but will be supervised closely.
Meanwhile, a Turkish military source said 20 IS members were killed by an armored shelling and rockets targeting their vehicles in the northern suburb of Aleppo. (end) ta.mb
