TURKEY, MOLDOVA AGREE TO BOOST TIES

Chisinau, – Turkey and Moldova have agreed to boost bilateral relations, as Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim paid his first official visit to Chisinau.

Addressing a joint press conference with his Moldovan counterpart Pavel Filip on Friday, Yildirim said that his visit would add a new dimension to the bilateral relations especially since this was the first official visit at the prime ministerial level.

“It will be possible to take our economic, commercial, tourism, cultural area relations ahead within the framework of agreements signed here, he said, adding that the present economic level of relations were far below the real potential,” he said.

The prime minister noted that trade volume between the two countries is $400 million and has the potential to reach $1 billion.

For his part, Filip said that Turkey is a strategic partner for Moldova. He said the agreement signed to establish a high strategic council between two countries would help in enhancing ties.

Prior to the press conference, the two leaders held a meeting as part of the Turkish Prime Minister’s two-day visit to Moldova. The meeting was followed by the signing of a number of agreements in the capital Chisinau, including a deal on social security. (QNA)
