TRUMP WARNS FORMER FBI DIRECTOR AGAINST MEDIA LEAKS

Washington – President Donald Trump on Friday warned James Comey, the former FBI director that he dismissed this week, not to leak information to the press, saying he might have secretly taped his conversations with Comey to contradict anything that he says.

Trump delivered the warning in a series of tweets Friday morning. “James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” Trump wrote.

Comey is set to testify to Congress next Tuesday on the investigation he had led into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia to influence the 2016 election. Trump fired him on Tuesday saying he was not fit to continue in the job because of the way Comey handled last year’s investigation into classified information on Hillary Clinton’s private server.

In a television interview on Thursday, Trump said that he considered “this Russia thing” before firing Comey, leading to speculation that he wants to replace him as FBI chief with a loyalist who will shut down the Russia investigation. (QNA)
