Three Hizbul Mujhahideen militants, one soldier killed in clashes in Kashmir

NEW DELHI, May 7 (KUNA) — Indian security forces on Saturday said that three militants belonging to the Hizbul Mujhahideen were killed in the firing of Indian military forces in Pulwama district of north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Quoting a high level Indian army official, PTI said that the security forces killed Ashfaq Ahmad Dar of Dogipura area, Ishfaq Ahmad Baba, a resident of Tahab and Haseeb Ahmad from Brao Bandyun during the encounter which was triggered during a search operation in the Panzgam village of Pulwama district. A joint combing operation by the Army, local police and the Central Reserve Police Forces was launched since last night following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the village of Panzgam.
In a related development, an Indian soldier named Ramesh Yadav was killed Friday evening in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district while the Indian army was trying to foil an infiltration attempt from the Pakistani side of the border.
Highly placed defense sources said that the army exchanged fire with the heavily armed guerrillas trying to sneak into Indian territories, forcing the latter to withdraw.
New Delhi accuses Islamabad of supporting and funding the armed groups in Kashmir, claims which Islamabad denies and insists Kashmir people are defending their freedom.
