Steady job openings in the US according to Labor data

WASHINGTON, May 10 (KUNA) — US Labor data showed Tuesday steady job openings in the US but in the same time hiring slowed down giving an agnostic outlook for the economy.
US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the mixed data which stated that job openings increased to 5.8 million last March from 5.6 million in February while hiring slowed down to 5.3 million from 5.5 million which can also be a signal for increased hiring in the coming months.
Professional and business jobs led the month with over 124,000 job openings followed by transportation, water housing and utilities with 35,000 jobs and lastly nondurable goods manufacturing with 29,000 jobs.
Unemployment rate remains at relatively low 5 percent according to Aprils data in the US but inflation remains below what the Federal Reserve is eyeing at 2 percent to increase its interest rate from its current 0.25 to 0.50 percent. (end) yt.gta
