SIX DEAD, MORE THAN 20 INJURED AFTER S KOREAN CRANE ACCIDENT

Seoul, – At least six people are dead after a crane collapsed at a southern South Korean shipyard on Monday, according to the Yonhap news agency.

There are further reports of a further 22 injured – three of them seriously – after the crane, believed to be between 50 and 60 metres tall, collided with another crane at the Samsung Heavy Industries site in the town of Goeje.

The site was reportedly used to manufacture modules for an oil platform to be deployed near Stavanger, Norway, according to Total E and P Norge, which leads that project.

Total said the accident occurred at 0545 GMT. It said the site has been shut down and an investigation begun.(QNA)
