Saudi policeman killed while preventing attack on police station

JEDDAH, May 8 (KUNA) — At least one Saudi policeman was killed as authorities prevented an attempted terrorist attack on a police station in Taif governorate.
Saudi police spotted two terrorists trying to sneak into the station’s parking lot late Saturday, said spokesman of the Ministry of Interior.
The two gunmen opened fire at the police members and fled the scene in a vehicle that was awaiting them nearby, he added.
The attackers escaped to a mountainous residential area in Thaqif where they hid, as police continue searching for them in cooperation with the area’s residents, he noted.
Last Thursday, Saudi authorities announced killing four terrorists and arresting two others in a raid on a safe haven used by a terrorist cell in Noman Valley located between Makkah City and Taif Governorate and another location in Jeddah.(end)
