Saudi FM: Syrian regime did not adhere to previous truce

RIYADH, May 5 (KUNA) — The Syrian regime did not adhere to a previous truce and its aggressions remain unabated, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubair said on Thursday, noting that his country would welcome any lull in hostilities in Syria.
In a press conference alongside his Norwegian counterpart Borge Brende, Al-Jubair said that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad cannot be a part of any political solution to the crisis in Syria, adding that his discussions with Brende also tackled the fight against the so-called Islamic State (IS). Moreover, the Saudi Foreign Minister said that Riyadh has taken numerous steps towards increased development.
The Norwegian Foreign Minister said that his country will continue to cooperate in the fight against terrorism, as he underscored worsening humanitarian conditions in Syria. (end) ad.nam
