Saudi Arabia, Britain appreciate Kuwait efforts, support to Yemeni peace talks

JEDDAH, May 29 (KUNA) — Saudi Arabia and Britain expressed Sunday appreciation to Kuwait efforts and support to Yemeni talks, currently taking place in Kuwait between Yemeni government, Ansarullah movement, and General People’s Congress (GPC).
In a joint press conference following the 5th GCC-Britain strategic dialogue, Saudi Foreign Affairs Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and Britain Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond commended Kuwait for hosting the talks, which have been ongoing for weeks now.
Hammond added that the strategic Dialogue highlighted Kuwait’s efforts for reconciliation in Yemen, efforts to end hostility by all parties involved, including recognizing exerted efforts by UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad to achieve security and stability in all Yemeni territories.
The British secretary also reaffirmed his country support to all GCC countries’ efforts in reaching a lasting peace in Yamen, reiterating a political solution is the only way to end the Yemeni crisis and the need to put an end to all aggression by all parties involved.
Hammond stressed his country’s commitment to support security and stability of the GCC countries, including the kingdom’s understanding of concerns expressed by GCC countries regarding Iran and its attempt to destabilize security in the region.
Talks in Jeddah also covered developments in the Syrian crisis, and the British official stressed importance on pressuring all parties involved to end acts of aggression, especially ones committed by the Syrian regime.
Meanwhile, Al-Jubeir said his talk with Hammond delved into combating terrorism, Yemeni crisis, and Syrian conflict, affirming on the two sides’ commitment in ensuring Iran becoming committed to being a good neighbor and not interfere in internal affairs of all countries in the region.
Al-Jubeir said Iran’s foreign policy and support to terrorism in the region is what made it isolated regionally and in the international arena.
The Saudi minister also noted on Iran’s presence in Iraq and its support to Ansarullah rebels in Yemen was unacceptable, calling for an end to interference in Iraq’s internal affairs.
In response to Iran’s accusation of not allowing their own pilgrims’ perform Hajj this season, Al-Jubeir said his country do allow all who want to perform Hajj this season, and rejects politicizing Hajj rituals. (Pickup previous) yms.mb
