QDF Supports Electricity Sector in Yemen

Doha, – Qatar Development Fund (QDF) signed on Wednesday an agreement with Yemen General Electricity Corporation and Turkey’s Calik Energy company in collaboration with Nebras Power, to supply Yemen with two portable energy units with total capacity of 61.6 Megawatt.

QDF General Manager Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari said that the supporting electricity in Yemen is an integral part of Qatar’s commitment towards Yemeni people, adding that these units will provide electrical power to a large number of vital state facilities such as hospitals and schools, in addition to thousands of homes, which hopefully would alleviate their suffering.

The agreement was signed by QDF General Manager Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Electricity Abdallah Muhsin Al Akwa and Calik Energy’s General Manager.
