QATAR TO HOST INTERNATIONAL DATA SECURITY CONFERENCE

DOHA, Qatar – Under the patronage of Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Doha will host the Third Annual Information Security Conference, for the Financial Sector on Nov 1.

Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has held a press conference, to discuss details of the conference.

Acting Director of Banking Systems, Payment and Settlement Department at QCB, Abdul Hadi Ahen, said, this year’s edition will shed light on the role played by cooperation and preemptive moves in electronic protection.

A host of specialists in the financial and cyber-security fields will take part this year, the official said. He invited government authorities and the private sector to take part in this year’s edition.

Ahen added that, the success of the previous two editions propelled QCB to think about turning the conference into an international event, held in Qatar each year.

The conference’s organising committee has been working since Feb, on ensuring that experts in cyber-security are present in Nov, to shed lights on the latest developments in the field.

The committee also invited officials from international institutions, such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and The Society for Worldwide Inter-bank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), to listen to their latest in the field.
